Healthy Life style in College
Being healthy in College is by far the hardest thing I have ever had to do. Since entering College I have never been satisfied with how my body looked. I have always desired to be more toned and defined but my diet never really allowed me to. My freshman year I was a gym head; after every class I would head straight to the gym and work out for 45 minutes to an hour. But being that I was a freshman I had no easy access to a kitchen and the food was not the healthiest. Have you ever heard the saying your diet is 80% of how you want your body to turn out and your workout plan is 20%. Well I had the 20% down pack and struggled a lot with the 80%. Forward until now and still seem to be battling with the 80%. I try my best to do as much meal prep as one can do, but my financial situation does not permit me to be able to meal prep as often as I would like. With my income limiting me to what I can purchase to eat it seems easier to just purchase a four for four from Wendy's. All the late nights and early mornings kind of deter you away from wanting to cook especially if you commute. So I have created ways to help ensure that I dont buy food out and make myself eat what is at home. First things first I make sure to pack food the night before. This prevents me from being to lazy in the morning and saves me time. Secondly I leave my main debit card at home. By main I mean the debit card with the most funds. I only take emergency cash with me and my other card that has a smaller amount on it. This prevents me from making on the spot purchases when I am not that hungry. It also prevents me from buying unhealthy food and forces me to eat what Ive packed. Thirdly I stopped purchasing juice! All I drink now is water and if I have a craving then and only then will I purchase an Arnold Palmer from chick-fil-a if I really get an urge. These three things helped save me money and are baby steps towards a healthier lifestyle. So though being healthy in college does come with its challenges it is definitely attainable with the right mid set!
